Mariah Carey Expecting a Baby Boy?

Although Mariah Carey has yet to announce that she's even pregnant, rumor has it that the songbird will be giving birth to a boy. According to reports, Carey is four months along in her pregnancy and is expected to make an official announcement sooner rather than later. Rumors started swirling in August, when photos (at left) of the R&B singer sporting a baby bump emerged after a concert in Brazil.

"She's having a boy, but the reason that Mariah didn't want to say anything is because she is 40, and she's superstitious," said a source. "But she's going to appear on 'Oprah' and 'The View,' so she's planning on making the announcement soon."

The Grammy winner and her hubby of two years, Nick Cannon, remain mum on the pregnancy despite the fact that Carey has been sporting a very obvious baby bump. Back in August, Carey hinted that she was with child but noted that she was a little scared to give a final confirmation. "I appreciate everyone's well wishes. But I am very superstitious," she wrote on her official website. "When the time is right, everyone will know -- even [my publicist] Cindi Berger."

Maintaining a united front on the matter, Cannon has stated that his better half will make the announcement about their possible growing family. "When my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her," he said on his radio show.

Not announcing a pregnancy right away is a tactic followed by many celebrities. Singers Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole and Jennifer Hudson all kept their pregnancy under raps for several months before giving birth. The new baby will be the first for both Carey and Cannon.
